‘Oasis or Mirage?’ grew from an ongoing fascination with deserts and their representation in a western context.

​

Playing on a constant tension of the real and the fake, this scene is based on endless clichés and copies of oases.

It forms a kind of set, more than an actual site, that shows its fragility, its reality on the verge of collapse and appears as a mirage along the way.

Never making us certain of its real presence, this video delves into the hyperreal nature of the oasis.
